At the beginning of this Meditative Stillness practice, you can voluntarily participate in a 40 seconds eye contact practice as an opportunity to feel visible and seen to yourself. With in-person classes, two interested participants would offer this gift to each other. With virtual classes, we suggest that you have a hand-held mirror available to give yourself 40 seconds of being seen. Connecting with yourself in this way may feel foreign initially. However, it is a powerful tool to literally understand how you see yourself. Do not worry if you decide not to participate. Simply sit on your chair, sofa or your place of comfort at home and enjoy 40 seconds of introspection.

A specifically designed, short sequence of gentle movements and breath awareness follows next. Movement therapy has long established the benefits of minute movement in centering your awareness along with breath work, and you are a beneficiary of this research.

Finally, laying down, participants are guided into 20 minutes of Meditative Stillness. You are given a sound-free stillness experience that belongs to only you and your spirit’s needs. No expectations, no right or wrong, no failing is possible. You also have the option of sitting upright if you prefer. During the last few minutes, you are given the opportunity to write down any ideas or insights before being guided to return your awareness into the room and to integrate your stillness into your mind and body.
